The Tanglewood Group Inc. and the Jamestown Jackals, a local minor league professional basketball team, have recently joined together to offer community based interaction between facility residents and members of the team. Jackals team members recently spent time at Tanglewood’s Memory Garden residence and Tanglewood Manor’s Memory Care Households eating dinner with and providing entertainment to residents by socializing and playing games.
Nicole Mucheck, Director of Activities explains that The Tanglewood Group’s mission for this type of partnership is to foster warm interaction and relationships between the facilities interdisciplinary staff, residents and the community.
“Everyone from staff to community members play a significant role in the enhancement of the quality of life for our unique and differing individuals.” she says. “We strive to offer exceptional service by retaining compassionate caregivers who consistently provide dignified, quality care in a safe and clean environment. By providing these additional opportunities for socialization and love we are leading the way in offering them meaningful, productive and spirited lives.”
Kayla Crosby, President and founder of #IntergrityFirst, Inc., the Jackals parent organization, was pleased with the outcome of the initial meeting between the players and the residents. “The players had a wonderful time interacting with them.” she said. “Everyone involved enjoyed themselves immensely.
